Sarah Pierce was traditionally trained as a chemist. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and her Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. She began teaching at Cumberland University in the Fall of 2008. Sarah became a chemist because she loves color. She is passionate about chemistry in art and includes many art based laboratory experiments in her classes. She is most proud of the Chemistry in Art class she developed at Cumberland University.
